♡ about me ♡

my name is kendall. i’m 23 years old and graduated from college with a degree in film & screen studies. i love supporting the work of female filmmakers and i spend most of my free time watching movies and/or talking about them. i hope one day i can get my own films made, but i’m hoping to work in production/development for a while until then. as of right now, i have an internship where i read scripts & write coverage.

i’m planning to use this blog to post anything film-related, whether that be lists of my favorites in a certain category, opinion pieces, film analysis, or actual reviews. i’ll try to write about what’s new and relevant, but definitely will not limit myself just to that. basically, i am the target audience for this, and i’ll write about what i would want to read about.

a question i’m often asked after i say anything about my interest or degree in film is, of course, “what is your favorite movie?” each time i’m stumped! do i say lady bird, the film that made me feel so seen onscreen that i finally understood what an art form cinema could be? do i say scream, my favorite scary movie? do i say birds of prey and the fantabulous emancipation of one harley quinn, my favorite comfort movie and my favorite fictional character of all time? do i say whatever i most recently watched and liked? do i say moonrise kingdom, a movie i watched 8 times in a month and which singehandedly guided me through difficult weeks? do i say barbie, which i saw in theaters 18 times and have watched four times more since its digital release? do i say amélie, and hope they know what i’m talking about? do i say scream so they know i’m a horror fan? do i say gone girl, and hope they don’t ask me more questions or else i won’t stop talking for several minutes? do i say jennifer’s body and risk them looking at me like an insane person because “isn’t that the one where megan fox is like a demon who eats people” and i have to say yes and? each one feels like a lie or a cop-out or requires too much background. because i don’t have one favorite movie. i don’t even have five. i have a list of over 60 and even then i fear it may not be long enough. i love so many things for so many different reasons, that’s what is so magical about it all to me. you’ll see soon enough.

so, in short, i have an ever-rotating array of favorites, and am often hyperfixating on one or more of them at a time. hopefully the more i post, the more of my favorites you can discover! there’s so much beauty here, and i can’t wait to hopefully show you something you haven’t seen before!
